This is an opportunity for close business ties and cooperation between our two nations. The Nouvelles writes,? For 123 years now, Germany has remained a constant investor interested in developing ties in Madagascar. The Bonn government represented here by the statements of the German president on his first day; demonstrate their interest in Human Rights and Environmental Protection being entrenched in their participation in development and investments here. The two heads of government appear to have similar goals in their approach to these issues. Marc Ravalomanana would obviously be delighted with any substantive investment program from overseas, while Horst Köhler has brought with him 16 potential investors interested in developing sectors as varied as aeronautics, water and energy resources. In fact, yesterday an international mutual assurance treaty was signed between our two nations to specifically protect these investments. Georg Boomgaarden, the German Secretary of State and Marcel Ranjeva Minister of Foreign Affairs for Madagascar, signed for their respective nations this document fulfilling the requirement of the German suppliers and investors to protect their assets and guarantee quality of production.?
