Ambondrombe, the fascinating mountain 23/10/2006 | 16:07:19

The story says our souls travel to Ambondrombe after death. Soon however, living beings in increasing number might want to travel to this mountain.

The regional authorities of Fianarantsoa, in the center-south part of Madagascar, are convinced that the sacred and mysterious mountain of Ambondrombe could become an important place of attraction. Due to the respect of the surrounding populations with regard to the mountain of Ambondrombe, the biodiversity was logically preserved there. Part of the mountain, unused for years, remains intact because elders made believe that Ambondrombe was the refuge of the souls of our ancestors. The regional authorities are taking profit of this situation to attract tourists on the spot. A good opportunity for trekking and nature lovers.
