The Jerijery festival celebrating its tenth birthday 30/10/2009 | 14:57:13

This year, the Jerijery festival, held in the commune of Vavatenina, in the region of Analanjirofo east of the Great Isle, is celebrating its tenth birthday.

It is an opportunity for the locality of Vavatenina, located about hundred kilometers North of Toamasina, in the East of Madagascar, to get some fame, and to promote the local culture and economy. The Jerijery festival has this year around reached its eighth edition, and is celebrating its tenth birthday.

The festival started on October 29th, and will end on November 1st. Many artists, Din Rotsaka, Christian Egeba Est, only Manaly, Ontsavelogno, Dakôsy groups and Matata among others, are taking part in the event.

This year, the official opening of the festival's eighth edition has been marked by a free concert given by the group Rossy. The crowd massively responded to the invitation.

Since a few years, in all cases, the festival has been significantly raised Vavatenina, surrounded by a ring of hills, from isolation. On the contrary to infrastructures, interest is no seldom in the region.

The locality is, although, easily accessible, excepted after natural disasters. Vavatenina is drowned in a verdant nature shaping the typical snapshot of the Great Isle's oriental region.
