Vak'na Raid: a bike raid through the Vakinankaratra region 16/03/2010 | 17:16:38

The association Bira Bike Tours is organizing a bicycle raid around the city of Antsirabe from April 01th to the 04th 2010. The" Vak'na Raid" is a sporty event for tourists aiming at promoting the Vakinankaratra region.

The Vak'na Raid's proposed track is sensibly interesting: 100 km of tracks in a mountainous zone of Ankaratra. The raid will be a high altitude one, between 1000 to 1800 m. The temperature is, all the way, soft and hot in this year's period.  27 degrees are going to be the raid's daily showdown, but still with some 15degrees of freshness anyway. Everything suited to tourist sporty and rural activities are on schedule: visits of a natural volcano, lakes, highlands' typical landscapes, villages and discovery of the rural lifestyle through the 14 to be visited communes…

Bira Bike Tours is doing what it takes to make its tour a success Followers in vehicles will provide for whatever needed during stopovers. Meals, medical support, and lodging are all being considered. Security is equally being seriously addressed with support from the state police and from the national police. The first day will be dedicated to the technical check up of bicycles, and to the move to Ambohiborona,

The Vak'na Raid will start on April 02nd, 2010 in Ambatofotsy, the convoy will join Antsoantany. The first stopover is meant to be installed in Kivanja. On April 03rd, tourist will join Andraikiba, and spend the night around the famous lake. On the raid's last day, the track will lead the participants inside Antsirabe city with the final line drawn on the Place of the Culture. The event is organized in collaboration with the Vakinankaratra region's tourism office. This region is very much active in the promotion of rural and long term tourism as the sector's engine.
