Joaquim Chissano: Four days of consultation before the resumption of the talks 10/07/2009 | 16:28:32

The negotiations under the aegis of the new SADC's mediator risk taking more time than foreseen.

At his arrival, the Mozambican ex-president, Joaquim Chissano, specified" that it is not yet question of starting genuine negotiations ". During four well filled days, the delegation driven by Chissano will limit itself to a set of consultations. Just to really understand the context.

The Mozambican ex-president already met the members of the High Authority of the Transition and its president Andry Rajoelina. Nothing filtered from discussions between both men.

The biggest revelation was probably, at the time of these first contacts, that of the foreign minister. While meeting Chissano, Ny Hasina Andriamanjato evoked the probability of a presidential and a legislative election indeed for this year. An initiative that will only be pleasing to the international community that always required a quick return to " constitutional order ".

The delegation driven by Chissano will leave the Great Isle on July 12th. The real resumption of talks will be studied after the consultation of all political sides as well as the other actors of the country's socio-political life.
