TOURISM NEWS FLASH

The Hôtel des Termes in technical unemployment 13/11/2009 | 13:35:21

One of the leading symbols of tourism in Antsirabe city throws the towel. The Hôtel des Termes is planning technical unemployment at the beginning of December.

It is a hack of a setback for local tourism. The prestigious Hôtel des Termes, in Antsirabe city,120 miles south of the capital city, decided to make the technical unemployment pace. Once again, the political crisis and its economic impact are blamed.

The Hôtel des Termes will be the 503rd Malagasy enterprise deciding technical unemployment since the beginning of the crisis.

Very few tourists have been making for the Water City since January 2009. The Hotel des Termes' booking rate is in free fall. The managers from the Sofitrans group could not do otherwise. A renewable three months long technical unemployment period has been decided. The resumption of activities will depend on the evolution of the situation.

In order to attract tourists, this year, the authorities cancelled visa needs for tourists meaning to remain shorter than one month in Madagascar. This specific measure did not exactly pay off as much as expected. The flow of tourists got into significant recession in this year. On this account, hotels had to come up to putting their services on stand by mode.
