Drug trafficking: an Italian and a French national arrested with 225 grams of cocaine
An important arrest was performed by the central agency for the fight against abuse of narcotic and psychotropic substances ( SCLASSP ) on April 2 at Talatamaty. Actually, special elements of this police agency apprehended an Italian national named Giovanni Virmecati a.K.a Mauricio, aged 63, and a French-born Malagasy named Ramaherison, known by the name, Olivier, aged 44, with 229 grams of cocaine.
On that day, the police discovered a package containing cocaine on one of two men. The arrest was followed by a raid in their home. But to their greatest surprise, the SCLASSP agents discovered three more packages of cocaine, weighing approximately 225 grams, and nine packages of marijuana.
The Italian has denied any involvement in this affair but while checking his passport, police discovered that he made several trips to Bogota, Colombia, one of the hot zones of international drug trafficking arena, where he presumably brought the apprehended drugs.
