FREE FM’s reporters entitled to one more condemnation 04/01/2013 | 20:05:06

The FREE FM radio station was keen on broadcasting its programs anew in January 2013. But another condemnation from the court spoils its plans.

Lalatiana Rakotondrazafy and Fidele Razara Pierre, as well as a couple of other persons, all get three years to be spent behind bars from the court, on the four following charges held against them, namely threat against national state security, resistance to national security forces, destruction of public goods and organization of an unauthorized street demonstration. The trial actually refers to a street demonstration organized on May 19th, 2012. The Communication Department advised the FREE FM radio station in addition to this court sentence, that it would do well to refrain from broadcasting again at all
The FREE FM radio station’s lawyer decided to reply with a judicial appeal normally supposed to challenge the outcome of this trial, considering that the prosecuted individuals actually barely knew about the process, hence the judgment in absence.
During a whole year until now, FREE FM, the opposition radio channel, has been having to deal with several forms of persecution. The station’s most famous reporters used to be supportive of the current ruling power not that long ago, though.
