In the end, overlooking politics in Iavoloha proved too hard
09/01/2013 | 11:29:37
The Palace of Iavoloha, the official wishes presentation ceremony, and an opportunity to address the current situation of the country’s political turmoil. This was basically not scheduled, but neither was the crisis, was it? So, politicians could not help rubbing it in.
“This, as per usual, solemn ceremony will be the opportunity granted to the Chief of State to describe the year 2012 balance sheet as well as Madagascar’s perspectives for the year 2013. On this account, in the name of the Nation’s honor and for the sake of the Malagasy People longing for the moment to be solemn and complying with the protocol, and contrary to the various gossips making their way back and forth, any other political declaration, whatever the issue, will be banned and stated on another more suitable occasion.” So read the transitional presidency’s official stand concerning this official wishes presentation ceremony a handful of days ago. The transitional leader actually obliged and gladly enumerated his achievements and perspective, namely the construction of one new road to the airport of Ivato, the opening of a city hall in Toamasina and so on… He also entitled Jean Omer Beriziky’s government to decide about a potential 10% bonus on civil servants’ paychecks. Then, Andry Rajoelina emphasized the Malagasy people’s right to choose its leaders… most likely as a way to display his will to challenge the international pressure related to the way to go towards the settlement of the political crisis. As far as he is concerned, Mamy Rakotoarivelo, the Transitional Congress’ chairman replied by focusing on the issue’s very hardcore, namely the lack of will to implement the crisis settlement Roadmap the way it is supposed to, particularly its articles 16, 17 and 20 concerning, as per usual, former president Marc Ravalomanana’s right to recover home soil and the political appeasement
