To re-launch the tourist sector that underwent the effects of the political crisis, the national office of tourism in Madagascar bets on local tourism. A show destined for nationals and residents will be organized on July 25th and 26th, 2009 in Antananarivo.

Destination vacations, the gold opportunity for the home tourists

“Destination vacations and leisure”, so is the name of a show sponsored by the ONTM to promote national tourism. The event will take place on July 25th and 26th 2009 in the hotel The Residence in Ankerana. The promoters try to inform vacationers to help them choose the best destination in this particular context.

Vacations don’t forcibly mean a tourist stay for the Madagascans. This year, the opportunities don’t lack for nationals. In spite of the sector’s restart, hotels still struggle to reach the upper season’s usually very high replenishment rate. The average would be only 30%. some attractive tariffs are proposed to nationals then to have them stay in hotels.

The interest of “Destination vacations and leisure” is to bargain a stay and a destination. Where to leave, with what budget, which activities on the program… these are questions to which Madagascan vacationers aren’t used to answer. The tour operators, the inn keepers and the professionals of leisure will present their products on their stand and will bring some answers to candidates to the departure.

The show “Destination vacations and leisure” apply to the general public, to youths, to families either nationals or foreign residents. It is a means for vacationers to organize as well as possible the precious days of rest. For many Madagascans, it will be about finding a dream destination usually inaccessible but occasionally accessible to their wallet.

The promoters don’t expect less than 2000 visitors in Ankerana during the two days long show. Apart from exposal and advices to travellers, some animations are on the program to provide preliminary taste of leisure that can be appreciated during vacations.
