An important delegation of parliamentarians and legalistic militants is currently in Africa to prepare the meetings of Luanda and Maputo. Part of it is a delegation of the international GTT, an association which begins to shine.

The legalistic movement getting settled in South Africa

Ten parliamentarians made the trip to Luanda, the Angolan capital city, to attend the 18th ACP-EU parliamentarian round conference gathering ACP region countries (Africa, Carribeans, and Pacific), the Cotonou agreements’ usufructuary countries, and the EU as financial backer. Let it be recalled that the European Union required explanations from Andry Rajoelina about the restoration of democracy, indeed in the setting of these agreements. The delegation is led by the parliamentarian Raharinaivo Andriantohandro, recently freed from jail after several months of custody. It clearly intends to report the genuine nature of the crisis in Madagascar, and to ask the European Union continuous pressure on Andry Rajoelina.

The GTT International staff met this delegation at the time of the stopover in South Africa, last week end, during a briefing session with President Marc Ravalomanana. GTT International’s leaders were seen part of it.

The delegation also prepares the next Maputo summit, most likely to be held on next December 3rd and 4th, with the President. According to the Ravalomanana mobility, this meeting ought to settle the following issues:

1. Making the Co Presidency and the Presidential Council effective

2. Erecting an inclusive, fairly shared, and consensual Transitional Government to be directed by Prime Minister Mangalaza, as well as the Transition’s other institutions

 3. Creating a joint team in charge of the follow-up of the implementation of the Addis Ababa Additional Act and all of the Maputo agreements,

 4. Creating an Independent Electoral Commission (IEC),

 5. Scheduling electoral deadlines.

Although all of the three mobilities accepted to make for Maputo on December 3rd and 4th, Rajoelina Andry is seemingly still reluctant to do so.
