The High Authority of the Transition is not sailing on instruments. In spite of his main opponents' reluctance, Andry Rajoelina closed to go forward, even if he is on his way to a wall. The meeting supposed to be a national debate is increasingly turning in a flattery ceremony which might push him even futher on the wrong way

A national debate turned into a disciples’ ceremony

Some 2000 participants responded to the HAT call. All of the joined the international conference center of Ivato and took part into the meeting organized by the young putsch maker. Political parties and associations unwilling to buy into the HAT doctrine equally appeared, but in an insignificant minority, namely the Grad Iloafo, the Monima and the Federalist Party of Madagascar. On the other side, herds of Rajoelina’s zealous disciples showed off evidences of anxiousness to decide of the election’s date, and to address the legal texts about it.
In some cases, the “people’s representatives” have been chosen by regional chiefs, Rajoelina’s most devoted disciples. The number of participants is amazingly similar to that of the self proclaimed Chief of State’s early 2009 meeting’s ones. Would there have been a list of undefectible individuals ready for action, whenever need be to pledge the debate’s resolution? Some political parties have actually their foregone reluctance to sign anything, and that their presence only served the expression of their stands.
Even the HAT is partly having doubts on this umpteenth chat session. Blanche Nirina, partisan of Rajoelina and chairwoman of the national assemblies’ follow up committee, finds this meeting far too excessive, the focus having to be concentrated on the national conference in the regional conferences’ regional assemblies.
The Marc Ravalomanana, Didier Ratsiraka and Albert Zafy mobilities boycotted the “unilateral” meeting of Ivato. “The Maputo and Addis-Ababa agreements are the most important thing, what does Andry Rajoelina want more?” asked Bary Rafatrolaza from the Marc Ravalomanana mobility.
The national “debate” will serve the HAT to confirm its will to keep in undisputed control of its transition, which is all but “neutral”, “inclusive” and “consensual” as required by the agreements of Maputo. The opportunity will not settle the Malagasy political crisis. Its bill amounts to 40 millions of Ariary.
