In response to the report presented by the Malagasy political crisis' main mediator, the HAT propaganda machine reacted. A strike back in the rule of the art against Joaquim Chissano's personal reputation is on its way. The Mozambican former president is being accused of having been corrupted by Marc Ravalomanana, for maintaining his stand against the HAT in spite of Andry Rajoelina's "announcement" of his pull out from the presidential race. v

Anti-Chissano propaganda: shameful accusation in order to ruin the mediator’s credit

In respect of the HAT will, supported by France, Andry Rajoelina’s declaration of his free und unforced choice to “allegedly” refrain from running the presidential race is supposed to draw the whole international community’ s sympathy and dollars. On this account,  France welcomed the young authoritarian leader’s alleged evidence of wisdom, overlooking the fact that the concerned extraordinarily wise youngster is stranded in his own unilateral dead end, burdened by a power far too heavy for his young shoulders. One year ago, Andry Rajoelina was invited to pull back, one year later, he is starting to comply. But it is far from enough to change a thing. A couple of days later, the report produced by Joaquim Chissano, the Malagasy political crisis’ main mediator mandated by the international Contact Group, confirmed it. Joaquim Chissano underlines that the agreements signed in Maputo and the additional act signed in Addis Ababa remain the best option to put an end to the crisis for the involved political parties. Even though their implementation is proving to be a substantial challenge, they are, as a matter of fact, the easiest and the most secure way to set up any inclusive and consensual transition. Too bad for the HAT, the mediator waved bye bye to Andry Rajoelina’s roadmaps basically dimmed to be enforced in return for his “promise” to refrain from running the presidential race. He emphasized that Madagascar’s recovery of constitutional order has to be completed through a consensual, inclusive and believable process. Even worse, the mediator has called upon the Malagasy political fronts to resume negotiations and tackle the reconciliation in order to set up a new roadmap, a consensual electoral calendar, a government and an electoral commission formed with the same consensus mindset. Andry Rajoelina believed to be duly entitled to rule the Transition at will, for having consented to huge, but finally vain, concessions. Now, the ICG mediator is calling all of the Malagasy fronts to concede even more for the sake of a long term solution. Joaquim Chissano is already tackling the organization of a Pretoria II meeting to settle all of  Malagasy crisis related pending issues. Such a ICG stand deserved retaliation, didn’t it? The HAT propaganda machine is unleashing against the Mozambican former president in order to convince, if ever possible, the Malagasy opinion to reject any further negotiation. Joaquim Chissano is accused of having received some 2 millions of dollars from former president Ravalomanana. Such stupid allegations are based on nothing else by suspicion from some political actors about  the SADC mediator’s alleged partial willingness to protect the elected but ousted president’s interests.Joaquim Chissano’s pledge for the Maputo agreements and his trip to Pretoria would be the proof of his “corruption”. The campaign is definitely so ludicrous that it actually failed to draw anything but a pityful smile from the international community. The relevant question would be: What did the so hurried and so deeply involved France give to whom? Since a lot of people have long been hearing so much “rumours” about the French interests, we are going to correct things: nothing to nobody. Diplomacy in the rule of the art, isn’t it?
