After a little more than a two months long exile in the United States, the president of the reformed church of Madagascar, pastor Lala Rasendrahasina is back in the Great Isle.

FJKM’s president back to Madagascar

Pastor Lala Rasendrahasina directed a meeting of the FJKM church office members, to the big surprise of his flock, as his return has not been announced publicly. From his first day at the meeting, Lala Rasendrahasina, taxed to be near collaborator of president Marc Ravalomanana, exiled president and former vice-president of the FJKM, has been invited indirectly by supporters of the putsch’s regime in Madagascar to withdraw from the direction of the Protestant church of currently about 4 millions souls through the national territory.

In spite of the rivalries within the church, a renewal of the FJKM office is likely not for the short-term.

The president of the FJKM has been avoiding speaking of politics until now. He was among the members of the federation of the Christian churches (FFKM) that tried to assure a mediation to find an exit to the political crisis back in last February, before the Coup in March.

Lala Rasendrahasina was, since the beginning of the crisis, considered by the supporters of Andry Rajoelina as being Marc Ravalomanana’s ally. Therefore, he has been arrested by the rebel forces which sustained Andry Rajoelina during a meeting of power transfer from Marc Ravalomanana to a stillborn military direction, on March 17th. The pastor has been detained together with the members of the presumed board of directors, ill-treated by the militaries and by some supporters of Andry Rajoelina.

This terrible incident compelled pastor Rasendrahasina to hide for some days in the capital, before an exile of two months and some days to the United States for security reasons.
