The clerics' led sixth gathering was held inside the stadium of Alarobia, on Monday April 5th. Several thousands of sympathizers responded to the clergymen's call although various events took place throughout Easter Monday in the capital city.

Religious leaders require the release of political prisoners

The pastors united within the Clerical Leaders’ Movement have once again been warmly applauded. Part of the audience were some political figures supportive of the ousted president Marc Ravalomanana. The crowd was anyway massively present.

The clerical leaders are, from now on, requiring the release of political prisoners. The pastors are convinced that lull will find it hard to come true as long as anyone is left behind bars on political basis. Since days, these political prisoners started a hunger strike in order to attract attention on their fate. Some fifty supporters of Marc Ravalomanana have been sent behind bars in the run of the political crisis.

The demonstrations organized by the Clerical Leaders’ Movement are regularly drawing scores of supporters, since they are repeatedly held in a fenced area with authorization, and consequently make no place for retaliation from security forces loyal to the High Authority of Transition, quite the opposite of the political gathering attempts in the midst of the capital city, repeatedly attacked with violence.
