Andry Rajoelina left Madagascar on Monday, July 22nd, in order to meet the Tanzanian President and acting President of the SADC's Troika, Jakaya Kikwete, in Dar Es Salaam. Shortly before his take off, the transitional leader was keen on emphasizing his intention to address the Tanzanian Chief of State as his equal, and that he would be in for defending national sovereignty

According to various sources, the talks held by Jakaya Kikwete and Andry Rajoelina were naught but the next logical step to the letter sent by the transitional leader to Ramtane Lamamra, the African Union’s Peace and Security Council’s special envoy. This letter’s content reads Andry Rajoelina’s firm rejection, in the name of national sovereignty, of the SADC’s latest proposals developped in seven points for the sake of removing the current political stumbling block. Part of these proposals are the requirement of three presidential candidates rejected as such by one part of the International Community, namely Andry Rajoelina, Lalao Ravalomanana and Didier Ratsiraka to keep away from the presidential race, and the reshufflement of the Special Electoral Court. Details of the talks held in Dar Es Salaam are yet to be collected, whereas Andry Rajoelina seems to have stopped playing the big shot when recovering home soil on July 23rd.
