The SADC´s mediator is successively meeting the Malagasy political actors in the crisis. Rumors of a potential deal is on its way, but faces up to strong skepticism

tough negotiations in sight

The SADC´s envoy and the international community would like to make this crisis history once for all, and to this end, get a new political deal in January.

Some voices are even holding  Leonardo Simao´s mission in Antananarivo as the last chance granted to the Malagasy political actors to reach consensus.

The opposition is not against entering the current transition if it is reshuffled in compliance with the Maputo agreements signed in 2009. The adversaries of the High Authorities of Transition do not want to drop that Andry Rajoelina operated a putsch, and that only a political deal accepted by the international community would make his position legal, if ever.

Rajoelina has however surprisingly been displaying complacency towards the opposition and even stated that negotiation days had to make place for political openness.
