10 million USD required annually for the reparation of hydro-agricultural infrastructures

Producing localities of the eastern, northern and south-western part of the country are the most hit by natural disasters during the rainy season, as reported by the CPGU, the prevention and emergency management committee of the Ministry of Agriculture. According to the figures provided by this committee, 10 million USD is needed annually to repair or renovate the damaged hydro-agricultural infrastructures all over the country.

For the rainy season 2012, 7 million USD was needed to rebuild the infrastructures destroyed by the cyclones. The latter figure was published by the World Bank after conducting comprehensive assessment of all the damages. But in order to reduce the repairing cost of the damages caused by cyclones and to allow the population to produce safely in irrigated lands, it is more than necessary to implement the standardization of the construction of hydro-agricultural infrastructures to make them more resistant and sustainable to different natural disasters.
