10th anniversary of the Office of Civism and Education of the Mass focused in civism

During the celebration of its 10th anniversary, the Office of Civism and Education of the Mass (OEMC) will organize various activities which will all be based around one main theme: civism. Since civism is still a major problem in Madagascar, OEMC chose this topic on purpose in order to attract the attention of a larger public regarding the issue.

During the official opening of the celebration on December 18, at the “Gymnase Couvert” Mahamasina, officials within OEMC talked about the importance of civism in education which can effectively contribute to the development of the country. In fact, being affiliated with the Ministry of Education, OEMC is highly aware of the negative impacts on development of the lack of civism in the national education.

To bring remedy to the situation, most of the activities organized by OEMC during the celebration will revolve around citizenship and civism education. Some of the major themes that will be dealt with include: parents education, transparent elections, public order, rule of law, rights of children and disabled children, and respect of the environment. As for the activities, there will be carnivals, exhibitions, awareness raising campaigns, round-tables, trainings of teachers, various contests and school visits. These activities are scheduled to be held all around Antananarivo.
