The public authorities in collaboration with independant agencies are proposing a plan to assist the homeless of the capital towards social inclusion.

A social initiative to reach street children

The purpose of the initiative is among other things to reduce the number of beggars and homeless people who roam the streets of the capital, Antannanarivo. There may be a little less than 200 in the city.

According to the Express” The Lemizo Initiative intends to pormote the development of the homeless, in particular the children, providing them a home and an education and saving the children from begging for a perod of four weeks. Such is the objective envisioned by the Lemizo Initiative launched to fight against social exclusion in Antananarivo. It’s a question of basic human rights and child protection by providing for them the basic rights of a home and an education. This would make it possible for them to have a good education and access to basic care. This initiative has been born through the efforts of the Ministry of Health, Family Planning and Social Protection, and the City Commune of Antananarivo ( CUA) through the Municipal Hygene Office ( BMH) and the fire department and various NGO’s working for the inclusion of the most impoverished.
