Ambatovy-Tanandava Project Toamasina : strange death cases, 90% of Malagasy workers evacuated the site.

Noelimanana Brange Gerard’s death on Tanadava’s site appeared so strange to the Ambatovy project’s workers that 90% of the site’s personnel stopped working on August 11th 2010. An inquiry concerning the death of this 25 years old man from Saranambo, East Fenerive ,has been started . The man used to work for Keangam APP, a society producing electricity for the whole of Tanandava. According to reports, the man failed to appear among his colleagues from August 7th. The security services noticed his absence on that day by 16:00 local time as it was reported by the missing man’s relatives. A search operation was jointly conducted with the local state police forces until Sunday morning. At 8:00 local time, his body was recovered in an “espace consigné”, a confined facility, access of which is being hindered by series of security measures. No wonder that the search had taken that long. A Filipino watchman was in charge of the restricted sector on Saturday.

The SNC Lavalin company – involved into the Ambatovy project – reported that cigarette butts were recovered nearby, and that the victim died out of stifling. The other workers didn’t buy it that easily. They are believing the truth about this death to be kept secret, and consequently requiring transparency.

On the following Monday, Noelimanana Brange Gerard’s mother equally died out of shock as hearing about her son’s death. A couple of dead bodies in a row…To be continued
