The Transitional president refused to meet the other mobility leaders in Maputo. According to him, the government should be put in place in Madagascar. He would like to sort the issue out by videoconference.

Andry Rajoelina confirms that he will no more make for Maputo

“The negotiations are over”. These 4 words were the reaction chosen by the transitional president Andry Rajoelina in response to an invitation stemming from the Mozambican President, Armando Guebuza, following the three other leaders’ commitment to meet again.

The potential meeting of mobility leaders bound by the Maputo and Addis Ababa agreements would focus on the erection of a sharply delayed national unity government. Andry Rajoelina pledged to join the debate through videoconferencing, because “there are merely some ministries left to address”.

In the name of the transparency, Andry Rajoelina would like to make the talks between political mobilities public. At a press conference in the palace of Ambohitsorohitra, Rajoelina proposed a live media broadcast of the proceedings, something certainly unacceptable for “any” mobility.

In all cases, Joaquim Chissano is being expected very soon in Antananarivo. The SADC mediator ought to push political mobilities toward a common ground in the setting up of the Transition’s new government.
