Andry Rajoelina's king size declaration has once again been a mitigated surprise. Although being expected to announce either his public salute government or the resumption of talks, in the end, the HAT leader only gave in to mounting pressure on his back. He solemnly announced that he gave up the idea of running the next presidential race, for restricting himself to a better management of his transition through a newly presented roadmap.

Andry Rajoelina: “I decided to refrain from running the presidential race”

A long propaganda like introduction paved the way for the solemn speech. “For the sake of the people’s and the nation’s interest, I decided to refrain from running the presidential race”, declared Andry Rajoelina. “I took this decision in order to be able to manage the transition in peace”. The young TGV tought to be supposed to produce further justifications: “this decision is a mean to settle a far too long crisis “. It insured that his pull out from the presidential race would be an alleged pledge for the incoming elections.

Andry Rajoelina, the bravest of the brave position defenders certainly holds it as a praiseworthy sense of sacrifice for adding: “I’d rather offer my own self in sacrifice than sacrificing the Malagasy people “. The traditional disparagement session against the three former presidents has of course had its due place: “they don’t have the right to sacrifice the people “. The young TGV definitely does feel no regret in face of the crisis and its consequences which he has been causing for a little bit than one year. “This crisis has been taking place since 50 years, we underwent it, we fought it “, he said. Andry Rajoelina summarized the half century of independence as a bag of ill will, selfishness, disappointment, bad governance, lies, deception and so on…

New roadmap

Nothing else survived from the late roadmap supporting the Rajoelina mobility’s widened consensus and the french conditions but the constitutional referendum’s nearly been officialized schedule. ” I have long been stating that only some free elections can settle the issue in the country “, recalled the HAT leader, while adding that the ultimate goal remained the erection of the 4th republic. He confirmed August 12th, 2010 as the referendum’s day, and announced a couple of major electoral events: the legislative elections on September 30th, 2010 and the presidential election on November 26th, 2010.

Before tackling this electoral calendar, the authoritarian regime’s leader organized a national dialogue to debate the new constitution’s content. From 27th to May 29th, 2010, representatives from the 22 regions and the 111 districts will be invited to put propositions forth. Andry Rajoelina called upon the Malagasy solidarity to support his to his” unique solution “. “I am going to take my responsibilities, I am begging the international community to support the capitalization of this roadmap “, he has declared. In the end, the young TGV is proposing an alleged fair deal: international recognition and financial support against the renunciation to capitalize his lifetime’s ambition.
