Andry Rajoelina and his clique decided to put up a bare-faced cheek to mean their defiance towards the African international instutions. Yet, envoys from the SADC and the African Union recovered Antananarivo, expecting to reach any further development in the crisis settlement process in Madagascar. Ramtane Lamamra, Joachim Chissano and the International Contact Group - Madagascar's other representatives have come to listen to political groups speaking but swaying stands. Will they ever convince the unlimited transition's little dictator?

Andry Rajoelina vs. the International Community: the diplomatic crisis

No far reaching decision will emerge, for the International Community learnt what patience is made of, and expects  any such decision to emerge from the Malagasy themselves. As a response to this weakness, putsch originated leaders have been undisputedly ruling the country for the latest four years and continuously strain to deprive the people from this choice, namely by blaming this attempt of the Foreigner concerned about his own personal interest.

The right to choose its leaders taken away from the Malagasy people for four years

Andry Rajoelina and his supporters diverted the issue on faked patriotism and national sovereignty for the sake of illegaly and unlegitimately holding their grip on power. “Don’t take the right to choose their leaders from the Malagasy people” yet he declared, who did it over the latest four years.

The year 2009’s main putsch was followed by series of enforced small scale putsches from the same person. Andry Rajoelina willingly enforces unfair and illegal laws to do away with his adversaries as well as his own allies with dangerously growing ambitions, and uses the army as a deterrent whenever muscles need to be convincingly flexed up.

These clumsy though compulsory dictatorial actions ruined his international credit out and massively crippled his national image as a consequence. The would be remedy? slipping back again into his DJ shoes and drawing the popularity card up his sleeve. The transitional leader launched an exclusive electoral propaganda campaign expected to spur masses on to opposing an International Community firmly rejecting his presidential candidacy.

No putsch maker as candidate

As a recall, the International Community actually does reject Andry Rajoelina’s presidential candidacy, not only because he has an umpteenth time tried to decieve the Malagasy people and the rest of the world, but mainly because of his breach of Madagascar’s laws, constitution and internationally binding deals. As one mere example, his candidacy was proposed beyond the legal deadline to do so. It should have been bluntly rejected by then, yet it was not.

The transitional rule means: Whenever Andry Rajoelina plays the fool, do blame the others! This time around, Ambohitsorohitra’s mastermind Norbert Ratsirahonana attempted to justify this violation of the electoral code by the Special Electoral Court’s decision to accept Lalao Ravalomanana, the exiled former president’s first lady, and former president Didier Ratsiraka as presidential candidates. By giving in to Ambohitsorohitra’s pressure, the institution basically supposed to referree upcoming free and fair elections has given up the whole of its credit, even if it conceded its politically motivated decision later on.

The International Contact Group – Madagascar is now in for fixing all the damages wrought by the Special Electoral Court. Its mission? prompting Andry Rajoelina, Lalao Ravalomanana and Didier Ratsiraka to withdraw from the presidential race. They are not the only ones, for some other candidates linked with the year 2009’s putsch equally happen to be stigmatized by the International Community.

The new row of sanctions imposed in June 2013 may expect to be more severe than the former ones, although each and every foreign country remains free to obey the International Contact Group – Madagascar or not. Each political figure happening to be a nuisance to the electoral and crisis settlement process will have its foreign accounts frozen, and will not be entitled to any visa. Andry Rajoelina does not seem remotely interested in giving in and even declares diplomatic war to the International Community. The cost of this war is however paid in full by the rest of Madagascar, to date the world’s black list’s latest small rogue State.
