Boeing 777-200 ER: leased for more than 15 million Ariary per flight-hour

The Boeing 777-200 ER, belonging to the Portuguese airline company, EuroAtlantic Airways, chartered by Air Madagascar, landed at the International Airport at Ivato last Saturday morning. According to the explanations of the Minister of Transport, Benjamina Ramanantsoa, who was on board of that aircraft, its charter fare is cheaper compared to that of Air Italy’s Boeing 767. Indeed, the leasing cost of the Boeing 777-200 ER does not exceed 6000 Euros (around 15 million Ariary) per flight-hour. In addition to that, the new aircraft has a greater capacity with 313 seats, 30 seats of which is in the Business Class.

It is even more competitive. The first passengers, both foreigners and Malagasy, of the plane that served Paris-Tana for a 10 hour-flight, did not fail to express their satisfaction on the services offered by the crew. According to their statements, it is more spacious and comfortable, the food was delicious and the crew members were very attentive and friendly. It is worth noting that the captain of the aircraft and his assistant work for the company EuroAtlantic Airways. On the other hand, the rest of the Boeing 777-200 ER’s crew members consist of Air Madagascar’s employees. Trainings of employees of Air Madagascar are also scheduled shortly in order to transfer competences concerning the use of the new aircraft. The Boeing 777-200 ER will also soon get the logo of Air Madagascar.
