Carion a typical merina village on the road to Toamasina.

The small village of Carion is located at the side of a hill. In the neighbourhoods of the “Rocky Mountains” giving a particular aspect to the local landscape. The village shelters one of the railway stations of the railroad connecting Antananarivo, the capital, to the harbour city of Toamasina. The Malagasy traditional houses skirting the national road remained intact since decades. Next to them were built more modern buildings. The village has been able however to keep its charm. The construction of a training center under the supervision of the ministry for Youth and Sports, on a vast space allowing various kinds of leisures, in particular collective sports, contributed to attract visitors from Antananarivo. It is also possible, starting from Carion, to join by a rural track the mountain of Angavokely and the forest station of the same name. Carion is easily accessible by car from the capital.
