Central Bank of Madagascar: the General Manager dismissed

Rasolomanana Christian no longer holds the position of General Manager of the Central Bank of Madagascar. Actually, he was dismissed and replaced by Ratovondrahona Guy, who is the Secretary General of the Commission for Banking and Financial Supervision (CSBF). The handover ceremony was held yesterday. The decision concerning the dismissal of Rasolomanana Christian was taken following a decree ratified during the last Cabinet meeting.

However, the dismissal of the General Manager has brought about a wave of discontents among the employees of the Central Bank of Madagascar. Some of the employees reported that the dismissal of the General Manager is not a problem of person, but is rather a matter of principle and funding according to the particular statute that regulates the Central Bank. Moreover, the reason for the dismissal is not clear, especially when the term of the General Manager does not expire until late May.

On the other hand, the term of the current Governor of the Central Bank will end in August. So, due to that situation, a threat of a general strike looms within that institution. Indeed, other employees suspect there would be a case of nepotism in this dismissal affair, simply because the benefits that could ripped from that position are incommensurable.
