Company Bolloré: celebrating a presence of more than 40 years in Madagascar

Operating in the field of transportation and logistics, the Company Bolloré could survive throughout the years thanks to its strong sense of adaptation in front of the different socio-economic and political changes that happened in Madagascar. This company generally holds between 10 to 15% of the transit market in Madagascar. And despite the 2009 crisis which caused a sharp slowdown in its activities, the company was able to overcome the situation through the reliable partnership with two big mining firms.

Just like every entrepreneur in the Big Island, Yves Duchateau, General Manager of Bolloré Africa Logistics, did not miss to express his concern about the current frailty of the business environment in Madagascar. In his own words, Yves Duchateau asserted: “The tense atmosphere currently prevailing in the business world in Madagascar does not encourage new investments. And the wavering attitude of the current president in resolving the crisis will not encourage the creation of new investment projects.”

Established in approximately 45 African countries, Bolloré employs 300 individuals who are scattered throughout 9 agencies located all around Madagascar. Last Saturday, during a reception, 110 employers of the company were awarded with certificates of honor with the presence of a few personalities, including Benjamina Ramanantsoa, Minister of Transportation, and the Customs General Manager, Vola Razafindramiandra. For the year 2013, in spite of the uncertainty as to the resolution of the crisis, the company Bolloré hopes to take advantages of the different development opportunities that the country offers.
