The southeast road to Manakara is better now that rehabilitation work has been done. On this axis, taking the national highway 12, we propose a stop at Faraony.

Exotic fruits on the road to Faraony.

Located about sixty kilometers from the seaside town of Manakara, on the southeast coast of the country, the small town of Faraony is very familiar to lovers of exotic fruits. In boxes made of raffia and other plants from the region, local farmers sell in quantity but sometimes overabundant at very reasonable prices exotic fruit of all kinds, ranging from the famous “heart of beef,” or “ampalibe”, which grows like herbs in the region, to the ranjaly “type” banana , through cocoas, which can be consumed as other fruits before being turned into chocolate. Faraony is an opportunity to discover and enjoy this great fruits. Some, however, require a period of time to mature before consumption. A stop is far from useless when driving to Manakara, or going back to the region of Fianarantsoa.
