While riding a train was but a ancient memory, it is today again possible to travel by train on the East coast of Madagascar .

From Moramanga to Brickaville by train

The Madarail company currently runs passenger transport between two localities of the East coast of Madagascar, Moramanga and Brickaville.  Until today Madarail, since it had taken over the management of the former national railroads company RNCFM, was limited to the carriage of goods.  The landscape East of Madagascar invites to travel.  The essential goal of this passenger transport is to link remote villages which are not served by the road transport.  But one can just as easily travel by the train for the pleasure.  The more so as the tariff (3500 Ariary, i.e. a little more than 1 euro) will not ruin you.
