Jordan: would the HAT´s Labour minister´s dream be out of range?

When being asked about the conditions to be fulfilled by candidates to a job in Jordan, the young man named Hery started with the most problematic one: paying a couple of millions of Ariary. This agent arguably capable of validating applications argued that the first ones have already taken off, after paying for it.
His argument is based on the supply and demand law: there are many more applications than offers. For a 3-year long contract and at least $ 150 a month, bribing would be worth it …. Especially since the income would potentially reach 400 dollars a month, 2 million of MGA would be everything but a suicidal investment.

However, one agency was already able to con candidates to the Jordanian Eldorado. The genuine agency linked to the Century Miracle Jordan company, the single one recognized by the HAT´s Ministry of Labour, does not charge the candidate, at least it officially doesn´t. The agency is acting as a headhunter and receives its salary from the company. Potential handling charges may well exist. But in the case of an expatriation program endorsed by the state, places could be expensive but not for sale.

The HAT´s Minister of Labour and Social Legislation is very much involved in the Job in Jordan project. Henri Rasamoelina is however inevitably annoyed by criticism and skepticism plaguing the sending of 3000 Malagasy workers in this country of the Middle East. “There could be no other possible security measures apart from those which are already taken,. I do not accept easy criticisms. ” he declared

Part of these measures is the legalization of a single agency in charge of the recruitment. The Ministry is planning strict control in order to prevent a renewed Lebanon syndrom.

And so turns Minister Rasomelina into a Nadine Ramaroson “do provide these 200,000 or 300,000 unemployed workers with jobs, and then I would stand down. Solutions are the priority since people are increasingly starving. This solution is deemed to alleviate the crisis´ side effects … Many people did  lose their jobs and are still unemployed. Many children are out of school “, he justified there. The popular minister of population could not produce any better performance.

Jordan is a popular solution supposed to alleviate the collapse of employment in the industrial sector. Henri Rasamoelina even considering a gratitude gesture towards textile companies which remained and did not fire their employees.

 Jordanians are recruiting workers from Madagascar because the expertise of Malagasy textile sector workers is acknowledged. The HAT does seemingly not expect any home recovery for the sector locally before three years at least. Sending the victims of the year 2009´s putsch abroad is equally a way to get rid of future disputes.
The Jordanian company might hire more Malagasy workers for various other plants in the Middle East and China. On the other side, skilled workers for businesses expected to enter Madagascar might be missing when a new legal and democratic regime will come up.
