Suspected to be mercenaries, or even of the assassins, three Turkish nationals have been arrested and investigated. Other foreign nationals are also targeted by the Transition's authorities.

Let the hunt for “mercenaries” begin

Since several weeks, the High Authority of the Transition that took the power after lastmid March’s Coup has been recalling the possible intervention of mercenaries in Madagascar to sustain the return of Marc Ravalomanana. Three Turkish nationals have been therefore arrested by the police forces.

Shortly after their questioning, the three men have been submitted to the public prosecutor’s office in the center of the capital city. They have been investigated by the mixed national Commission of investigation (CNME).

The Turkish nationals would be, according to members of the police forces, suspected to prepare an attempt against the young president of the putsch, Andry Rajoelina. The legalistic leaders who support Marc Ravalomanana speak of paranoia. But the High Authority of the Transition is persuaded that the president in exile won’t stay still, even after the SADC’s reluctance to send soldiers to restore legality in the country.

Currently, other foreign nationals are in the sight of Justice and soldiers that support the HAT. Close collaborators of Andry Rajoelina are persuaded indeed that Marc Ravalomanana didn’t yet entirely rule out a come back in strength, in the same way he’d been pushed out.

It is not the first time that foreign nationals have been suspected of collaboration with the president in exile.

To face a possible army landing in support of Marc Ravalomanana, the HAT multiplied the gestures in favour of Madagascan soldiers. Assemblies and a reconciliation ceremony have been organized and, later on, a bonus has been promised by the illegal regime.
