Moramanga: Environmental Protection reviewed during workshops

From April 20 to 23, 2011, the Department of technical services inside the local management of environment, along with all of its partners, including International Conservation and the National Park of Andasibe, met with the grassroots association, V.O.I. (Vondron’ Olona Ifotony) of the 2 regions, namely Antsinanana and Alaotra Mangoro, during workshops.

The brainstorming workshops took place in Moramanga. For over a decade now, the management of the environment and forest has been transferred to these grassroots communities which are supposed to make profits from these natural resources. Indeed, in 15 years, thanks to the different actions undertaken by these communities, bush fires decreased by 70%. For the next 5 years, V.O.I, along with various NGOs and associations, plan to continue their actions in order to preserve the environment.
