Pluviometry: expectation of an increase in January

Weather forecasts for the first month of 2013 indicate a possible increase of rainfalls in the central part of Madagascar. In fact, according to estimates provided by weather forecasters, in the next couple of weeks, some localities around the capital will be subjected to heavy rainfalls, as a response to the strong heat wave prevailing mostly in the capital since the beginning of December.

In front of such notice, many areas in the capital, especially the poor neighborhoods and suburbs, need to get ready to tackle the often disastrous consequences of heavy rainfalls. People living in those areas are urged to unblock the drains around them, to oversee the dikes protecting rice fields and other cultivated lands, and to reinforce the structure of their houses. In case of flood, people in those areas should evacuate their places and stay in safer zones.
