Professional association: FIVMPAMA seeking to win SMEs’ interest

Having currently 110 members, FIVMPAMA, the association of Malagasy employers is working hard to win a big challenge which is attaining a thousand memberships in 2013. For that, FIVMPAMA invests a lot in informational campaigns. Among its important targets are SMEs. The ultimate goal in such an effort is to make SMEs important stakeholders in the development of the country.

According to the chair of FIVMPAMA, Ramanantsoa Randriamifidimanana, the challenge consists in bringing a better understanding and in convincing SMEs about the importance and value of getting together in an association. Indeed, most local SMEs don’t know anything about the roles and objectives of the association. And the goal of the campaigns tries to remedy to that lack of information.

It is to be noted that FIVMPAMA celebrates this year its 40th anniversary. As part of the celebration, the association organized a conference at the Chamber of Trade and Industry of Madagascar. During that conference, Professor David Rajaonary, one of the speakers, didn’t miss to make an assessment of the SMEs’ current status in Madagascar. He also stated the key role of SMEs as the purveyors of more than 70% of employments in Madagascar. However, in order for SMEs to be fully efficient and reliable as actors in development, Professor David Rajaonary insisted on the need to improve their competency and the quality of their service. He went on further that capacity building is one viable solution in the attainment of those goals and FIVMPAMA should be in charge of carrying it out.
