Starting up of 5 major mining projects in 2012

While other sectors of the economy are standing still, on the contrary, the mining sector, perfectly represented by companies such as QMM and Ambatovy, seems to be in good progress and witnesses millions of dollars of investment. Danielle Rajo Randriafeno has just confirmed that healthy status of the mining sector during the traditional ceremony of New Year’s wish presentation of her ministry.

So, she announced that among the twenty exploration projects in progress, at least, five of them will enter the exploitation phase after having fulfilled all the conditions required for shifting from the exploratory phase to the exploitation one.

Among these prominent projects which are imminently about to start up the exploitation of our sub-ground area are the Toliara Sands Mining Projects in the Andranobe Atsimo-Andrefana for the production of ilmenite and the Company PAM for the mining coal in the Sakoa region. According to the Minister, there is a need to establish more clarification between apprentice investors grabbing hundreds of mining permits without advancing any work plan and true professionals ready to invest billions of MGA, thus promoting and giving real values to our natural resources. A reorientation of activities within the Madagascar’s Office of Mining Registry is then on the schedule of the Ministry.
