The High Constitutional Court rejects the law concerning the presidential void

“The law Nb. 2013-004 governing the management of the transitional presidential void is not consistent with the Constitution and can, as a consequence, not be enacted” clearly sounded the the High Constitutional Court’s stand issued on July 17th. The law draft was obviously passed by a parliament dominated by supporters of the transitional leader. Yet, considering that the resignation of the transitional leader Andry Rajoelina is now off the point because of the lack of any specific electoral calendar, the High Constitutional Court’s rejection of this law will bear no significant impact over the overall political situation. As a relevant recall, the Constitution’s Article 166 addresses this issue as following: “In case of presidential void on any ground whatsoever, the Head of State’s power are jointly the Prime Minister’s, the High Transitional Council’s President’s and the Congress’ President’s to assume. “
