Toamasina: insecurity on the rise

Security is seriously being challenged in Toamasina. On August 4th, a store located in the Ambolomadinika Fokontany was targeted by robbers. Nobody has yet been arrested. They had fire arms during the operation.

During the previous week, the FIP police forces of Ankirihiry Toamasina captured Nino in the Adventist suburb. Nino is a “dahalo”, one of Toamasina’s outlaw famed for being the masterminds of the raging night raids against rickshaw passengers and drivers, raids mainly conducted on motorbikes. Nino went to jail in 2008, as being condemned for robbing reporters on Toamasina city’s Independence avenue. But his disciples are still free.
