Tourisme : Madagascar whishes to attract more Africans

The majority of tourists who travel to Madagascar are French. African countries, particularly those of the Development Community of Southern Africa (SADC) is nevertheless an important reservoir of tourists. The newspaper “L’Express de Madagascar” specifies that “The Malagasy minister in charge of Tourism, Harison Randriarimanana Edmond, and his Zambian counterpart, Hon Todd, have agreed to encourage member countries of the SADC to visit the Island. ” The newspaper also writes: “The two people met on the sidelines of the official visit of the Zambian delegation to Madagascar, last week. Agreements are already being developed to facilitate the movement of tourists between the countries of the SADC which represents nearly 250 million potential consumers, with a purchasing power of more or less importance depending on the country. South Africa is the main economic engine of this community.”
