The candidate Hery Rajaonarimampianina, actively supported by Andry Rajoelina, the transitional leader, is being sued by many other presidential candidates for interference with the legal process of the presidential election. Complaints addressed to the Special Electoral Court are about vote buying in the run of the election's first round and the use of state assets and equipment on personal electoral accounts.

Presidential candidate Hery Rajaonarimampianina in the Special Electoral Court’s sight

What will the Special Electoral Court’s prosecutors decide? No less than 13 complaints have been produced by 13 different presidential candidates. Some of them are expecting to take tactical advantage from them in the race, considering that candidate Hajo Andrianainarivelo, for example, the third runner up according to temporary results, would eventually get his ticket to the second and decisive round against Marc Ravalomanana’s champion, Dr. Jean Louis Robinson, could the current second in line, Hery Rajaonarimampianina, ever get kicked out by the Court. Hajo Andrianainarivelo particularly points at the use of public TV channel’s equipment in some areas of Madagascar to serve Hery Rajaonarimampianina’s electoral campaign. The first clash at polling stations being over, court skirmishes are now taking over. As from presidential candidate Monja Roindefo, nothing but the blunt cancellation of the vote held on October 25th is being required, accordingly due to the string of controversial election related issues and to the low turnout among eligible voters, in the meantime valued at a 35% registration gap as well. Such a request, the cancellation of the first round, is being supported on the same accounts by the next ten candidates, who however have quite a low score sheet. Leading candidate Jean Louis Robinson has kept away from making any particular request, and rather focuses on the electoral process’ second money time. “We are perfectly aware of all the electoral issues and of the fact that results have been rigged back and forth, yet we prefer to focus right away on the second round” declared one of his spokesmen. For the time being, according to temporary results released so far by the Electoral Commission, Jean Louis Robinson keeps on leading with 22%. Hery Rajaonarimampianina with 15% and Hajo Andrianainarivelo with 10% are trailing behind.
