Following a strategic but definitely non permanent return to France, Tantely Andrianarivo is starting his come back in the political arena. Act 1: an emotional remembrance ceremony for soldiers killed in action during the year 2002´s crisis as an introduction to the amnesty issue. The AREMA party´s destiny is, however, a very different story

Tantely Andrianarivo is an amnesty away from being back on track

Money! A lot of money! It is coming a little too late in case of condolences. Tantely Andrianarivo offered some 9 millions of Ariary to each of three families of victims fallen in the run of the year 2002´s crisis. The gesture is expected to wipe no tears out, but rather a certain shame. These soldiers actually fell in 2002, killed by other soldiers by that time supportive of the new president.

Following his victory at the first tour of the year 2002´s presidential election, Marc Ravalomanana was granted support by the armed forces when removing the outgoing president. That time´s prime minister, Tantely Andrianarivo, was the last one left, symbolically occupying the prime minister´s palace in Mahazoarivo. Shoot outs claimed casualties during the capture of this facility.

8 years later, the former prime minister is settling the bill, while launching very serious accusations: captain Andrianasolo Vola and master sergeant Andriamanantena Jeanson would have allegedly been disarmed and then shot dead. General Andrianome would have been wounded in the skirmish and then allegedly finished by a special unit in his hospital bed.

On his own initiative, the former prime minister is compensating the families of victims, but the look back at these sad events of Malagasy history is obviously first and foremost politically motivated. Tantely Andrianarivo is actually tackling the issue of his own potential amnesty: “which type of amnesty, what kind of deal, it’s a political issue” he said. In a certain extent, Tantely Andrianarivo is equally pleading for all those incriminated  in the year 2002´s political events and condemned.

They must step up the pace since elections are coming up, no matter whether they are unilateral or not. Tantely Andrianarivo is seemingly attempted to break off from the Ratsiraka position and increasingly appears willing to get into the dashing train. Pierrot Rajaonarivelo, equally in search of an amnesty, is intending to run the presidential race, on top of his own MDM party. So doesTantely Andrianarivo, however not as the AREMA party´s natural successor of the red admiral. One of this party´s fringes has already defected and swapped side.

Since the TGV national conference decided to grant amnesty to whoever was indicted and condemned for the year 2002´s events, the AREMA party is appearing rather lenient, and consequently confirms a potential participation in the HAT´s legislative elections, even if irregularities are to be expected. The party does even not hold the cabinet minister´s decision as unilateral. The red party is still swaying between being an ally or an enemy for the Oranges..Everything is up to when would the amnesty be officially granted, before or after the legislative elections
