ADEFI-ACEP MADAGASCAR : a mutual health-insurance for 10.000 entrepreneurs

The collaboration between the microfinance association ADEFI and the network of credit agencies for private companies  (ACEP) in Madagascar brought about the establishment of a mutual health-insurance service. This collaboration offers a new vision of Malagasy microfinance which, in addition to  giving credits to company managers, takes care of the social side by providing these entrepreneurs and their families with health insurance service.

Nearly 10.000 borrowers, which are mostly individual entrepreneurs and their families, will be able to benefit from this new structure of the mutual health-insurance, which is made possible with the financial support of the French Development Agency (AFD), amounting 350.000 Euros. The Mutual health-insurance will be established in eight major cities where ACEP Madagascar and ADEF are operating, namely Antananarivo, Ambatolampy, Antsirabe, Ambositra, Fianarantsoa, Moramanga, Toamasina and Mahajanga. The mutual health-insurance service in Antsirabe was already operational since last June while that of the capital will be launched soon.
