The head of the Transition has left the Isle and made for New York. According to a statement produced by the presidency of the Transition, Andry Rajoelina will meet with the Secretary General of the United Nations, first and foremost to defend his will to alter the electoral calendar.

Andry Rajoelina campaigning abroad

Andry Rajoelina is strongly pleading for tackling the legislative elections before the presidential election. He is now trying to convince the International Community. The Independent National Electoral Commission does not make any move in such a sense before further developments. Time is pressing, namely because the first round of the presidential election is basically deemed to take place on May 8th. Voters will have to be officially noticed before February 8th of this year. This seems quite unlikely because of this string of diversions at the eleventh hour.
