Communal elections : hundreds of reluctant mayors

Antananarivo’s mayors invited their colleagues from the whole island to address the situation during a general assembly.

The project was hindered by HAT mayors, but one hundred mayors succeeded in gathering anyway. They are obviously against such communal election

The currently acting mayors’ mandate is supposed to end with the year 2011. The transitional chief’s supporters have however required their dismissal from Andry Rajoelina during September’s national conference. No doubt that the fact, that a stong majority of the island’s 1500 elected mayors are TIM party members, loyal to Marc Ravalomanana, is a strong incentive for this request
