The International Community seems to have decided to resort to drastic means when sending quite a strong delegation to Antananarivo address the development of the political situation on the Great Isle. International organizations like the SADC, the IOC and the African Union respectively sent their envoys to the front lines. Various sources jointly mean that this unusually strong contingent is likely to have been spured on by the four party talks prompted by the Confederation of Christian Churches in Madagascar (FFKM) between Marc Ravalomanana, Andry Rajoelina, Didier Ratsiraka and Albert Zafy.

Crisis settlement process: consultations tackled by a very strong International Community delegation

The SADC organization’s special envoys have renewed contacts in Antananarivo with the main local decision makers. Antananarivo is currently hosting Joaquim Chissano and Leonardo Simao from the SADC, Jean Claude L’Estrac, secretary general of the IOC organization, and Ramtane Lamamra, official from the African Union’s Peace and Security Council. Each of them put the foot on Malagasy soil on July 9th and will leave on July 13th. None of these International Community representatives displayed any shadow of hostility against the FFKM’s tackled settlement process
