The ONTM, supported by the IFC (International Finance Corporation) and by the CI (Conservation International), has just made an "interactive Sales Manual DVD" public. This communication medium is featuring information concerning the Destination Madagascar addressed to foreign tourism experts.

Destination Madagascar: the ONTM launches its Interactive Sales Manual DVD

An updated data base of local operators (tour operators, innkeepers, service providers, and so on) is available in this “interactive Sales Manual DVD”. The DVD contains a 6 minutes long promotion movie featuring a couple of top ranking destinations of which the Menabe region and the special reserve of Andasibe.

Snapshots of tourist sites in Madagascar are integrated in an album. An interactive map of Madagascar allows the discovery of circuits and profitable ways all across the whole territory. This promotion tool is meant to stand international tourism experts in a very good stead.

The move is a step forward within the long term development notion aiming at saving paper use by progress to virtual medium. “The printed version already exists, but we are keen on emphasizing our integration in the long term development by concrete moves, hence did we produce this DVD”, explained Randriamandranto Joël, president of the CA of the ONTM as well.

Besides, a social tourism directory is also part of the new features to be explored in the DVD. It is a concept based on contact with the population’s daily life. The feature provides snapshots of possible social tourism in the Menabe region, in Andasibe and in Belo on Sea.

In view of re-launching tourism, Telma and the ONTM decided to sign a partnership which outlines the substantial commitment to kick-start the sector anew. Concretely speaking, Telma is proposing dropping wide range prices in order to allow tourists and tourism operators to remain connected to the rest of the world. “The roaming will provide tourists a certain sense of security and will give them the impression that they are not cut off from the outside world “, specified a responsible official from the ONTM.

4 000 DVD have been turned out and distributed at the time of international tourism shows as well as to Madagascar’s partner corporations in the sector. Some 200 French professionals will especially be targeted. The institutions and the local experts won’t be in rest. The cost of the DVD production amounts to 50 000 dollars while the directory amounts up to 10 000 dollars for the ONTM. Financial backing from the USAID has allowed the CI’s participation to this project..
