The seventh edition of the Economic Forum of the Islands of the Indian Ocean was a success. As a result, 30 partnership intentions were registered at the end of this mega event organized recently by the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Madagascar (FCCIM) in the city of Taolagnaro. In addition, the Economic Forum has been able to assemble the largest number of participants because 300 stakeholders were registered for this edition against 75 in the former one which was held in Victoria, Seychelles.

Malagasy economic operators were the most numerous during the event since all the 24 Chambers of Commerce and Industry scattered in all the regions of Madagascar were represented, not to mention other major national economic operators. Right after Madagascar, La Reunion brought over a delegation of 40 economic actors. “Half of them signed a letter of partnership intentions with their Malagasy counterparts,” declared one official of FCCIM.

These partnership intentions were observed in several sectors, including among others, construction and civil engineering, agribusiness, handicrafts, service, trade, light manufacturing, mining and the interrelationship between nationals of the consular chambers of the contracting countries. But a predominance of interest in the tourism and trade sector was observed.
