Andry Rajoelina left Antananarivo by special aircraft from the Ivato airbase. The HAT leader made for Pretoria in order to save a solution to the crisis as well as his position, if ever possible. He alleged that an agreement would have already been drafted, confirmed and set to be signed. Could the signature fail to come true, the unilateral solution would take over.

Foregone agreement: Andry Rajoelina’s latest bluff?

The dictating leader displays his best and single skill when digging comes to shovel: putting up a positive face. Politically isolated, Andry Rajoelina alleged to have been at the origin of the talks’ resumption. “We decided to go to South Africa because the people is longing for a settlement, the transitional period must be ended quickly”, declared Andry Rajoelina. Wearied by a non recognized and practically unmanageable power, the TGV wants to turn the page quickly. Its target is from then on the 4th Republic, and at the “appropriate moment”, the presidency.

Andry Rajoelina is therefore putting his money on his one last hand, the signature of his proposition in Pretoria. Could the HAT and its propangada be believed, it would only be a matter of details. In order to avoid his allies’ wrath, the young TGV relies on a text proposed by France, and expected to be imposed to the other political mobilities. “There is already a proposition – a drafted agreement – that I have already and willingly signed”, signed Andry Rajoelina. Such a document’s content is carefully being kept secret by the HAT and France’s embassy.

The dictating authority’s leader reminded this foregone agreement’s headlines: the concerned parties are agreeing on an election as well as on its quick completion. “The nature of this election will be decided later on, but a national unity government will be put in place prior to that “, revealed Andry Rajoelina.

“I wish we found a solution in Pretoria, but in the opposite case, we’ll have to move forward to the 4th Republic “. Andry Rajoelina is threatening to resume his unilateral processes if the other mobilities are refusing to sign the French agreement. “I already have a plan B if necessary”, he said, while promising to unveil it to citizens and the army  in due time. With his alleged roadmap 2 in the bag, Andry Rajoelina emphasized his post Pretoria solution, with an agreement or not.

“This travel to South Africa is a good will sign of mine for the sake of settling the crisis”, argued Andry Rajoelina. He rejected, as usual, the responsibility of a potential failure on his adversaries’ backs. Then he accused the other mobilities of complicating negotiations  by asking for impossible concessions. “Let the political battles and the positions motivated disputes finally come to an end” protested the dictating authority’s leader. He finally labelled the talks concerning responsibility sharing as shameful.

The three other mobilities are jointly denying any alleged foregone agreement imposed by France and Andry Rajoelina. Raharinaivo Andrianatoandro correctly summarized the situation: “In such negotiation round, there is always bluff to destabilize adversaries “. The Ravalomanana mobility’s man confirmed, on the other hand, that the other agreement jointly processed with the HAT could serve as a base in Pretoria. The success of this appointment on South African soil would depend on the recovery of some of the Maputo and Addis Ababa agreements’ particular points, namely amnesty for presidents Ravalomanana and Ratsiraka.
