INEC: ready for the next election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is now focusing on the upcoming election. It is currently examining the technical faults registered during the referendum on Wednesday, November 17, 2010. One of these technical faults is particularly the existence of many omissions concerning the electoral roll which has been the subject of much criticism. The explanations provided so far by the INEC did not convince the public opinion.

Indeed, according to the INEC, those omitted from the list of voters did not check their name after the INEC has drafted the temporary list of voters, which the latter should have done.  The INEC also says that omissions of voters on the electoral roll in the referendum had no impact on the final result of the election. However, it admits, indirectly, its failures and claims to be ready to correct mistakes for the next election.
