Jaojoby Eusèbe celebrates this year the 40 years anniversary of his career

Jaojoby Eusèbe, the man credited by many as “the King of Salegy”, celebrates this year the 40 years anniversary of his musical career. Jaojoby started his career as a performing artist back in the early 1970s. At first, he did not perform the Salegy yet. What he was doing at that period was going from one nightclub to another performing with his band international hit songs. It was in the early 1980s that Jaojoby started his career as a Salegy performer. At that time, he signed a long term contract with the then Hilton Madagascar Hotel’s “Papillon Night Club”. Performing the Salegy almost every night in that night club for 3 years, and working, at the same time, as a journalist, Jaojoby had troubles with managing his very tight schedule. He eventually took a break in 1984 following his nomination as the head of the provincial department of information which was a very important position at that time. It was only in 1987 that Jaojoby got back to a recording studio following the invitation and incitation of a French producer, Pierre Henri Donat, to take part in a compilation album entitled “Les Grands Maîtres du Salegy” (the great masters of Salegy). After the release of the album, Jaojoby’s song entitled “Samy mandeha samy mitady” became quickly a hit song all over the island. Shortly after that, a local newspaper nicknamed Jaojoby “the King of Salegy”, the title which he kept throughout his career as an artist.

So, concerning his career anniversary celebration, Jaojoby Eusèbe, in collaboration with “Tazako” Agency and Telma Madagascar, will tour the Great Island for a series of concerts entitled “Diaben’ny Fihavanana”, starting from August 14 to October 16, 2010. The “Diaben’ny Fihavanana” will pass through 8 big cities of Madagascar, including Antananarivo, Antsirabe, Fianarantsoa, Manakara, Toliara, Sambava, Antsiranana and Toamasina. As far as the capital is concerned, 2 concerts have been scheduled.  The first one, taking place on September 18, is a concert destined for the general public, while the second one, taking place in the Carlton Hotel on October 2, is destined only for VIP people. By way of gift for his fans, “the King of Salegy” is going to promote during the celebration concerts his brand new album entitled “Mila Anao”.
